After I came across
several Beauty’s Most Wanted products in a few of my local Costco warehouses, I
then discovered even more Beauty’s Most Wanted products on Costco.com,
including Serge Normant hair care.
About a week ago I
purchased Serge Normant Meta Silk Shampoo & Serge Normant Meta Velour
Conditioner set, both 8oz bottles (item #820090) and Serge Normant Meta Luxe
Hair Spray, a 7.5oz bottle (item #849511) from Costco.com.
While I have not seen any Serge Normant products in any of my local warehouses, friends in CA have assured me it can be found
in their warehouses and a friend in NY said the Serge Normant Meta Silk Shampoo
and Serge Normant Meta Velour Conditioner are being sold separately at the
Manhattan Costco for $14.99 each if you happen to be in the NYC area and
willing to hike up to E 117th St.
Anyway, the Meta
Luxe Hair Spray was shipped separately and has not arrived yet so I have
not been able to try it out, but the Meta Silk Shampoo & Meta Velour
Conditioner arrived a few days ago and I literally jumped in the shower to try
them out.
Let me start off by saying
that after only one wash my hair looks and feels absolutely amazing. I can’t
stop touching my hair or shamelessly stealing glimpses of myself in mirrors.
The sulfate free Meta Silk Shampoo was nice and thick like the Moroccanoil
shampoos, but I was surprised by how little the Meta Silk Shampoo lathered
compared to other shampoos I have used. It did lather some, just not a lot, and
it is by no means like the Wen cleansing conditioner which does not lather at
all. I attributed the low lather to the Meta Silk Shampoo being sulfate free-
which is a good thing, especially if you have colored or chemically treated
hair. From what little I understand about the role sulfate plays in shampoos,
it’s basically a detergent that produces a high lather (i.e. lots of bubbles).
Sulfate apparently helps to clean your hair really well, but because it’s
rather harsh, it literally strips your hair of its natural oils and of any dyes
or chemicals that have been applied to your hair. (Translation: If you want
your pricey color, highlighting or straightening job to last longer, then avoid
shampoos that aren’t sulfate free.) I lathered, rinsed and repeated as the
directions instructed and the first thing I noticed was how my hair felt really
clean, like raw clean, like I was starting with a fresh, blank canvas of wet
hair that was primed to soak up whatever came next, which in my case happened to
be the Meta Velour Conditioner.
The Meta Velour
Conditioner was even thicker, almost like a paste and it took a little effort
to squeeze enough out of the tube, but that’s a good thing. The super thick
conditioner stayed exactly where I applied it to my hair; it didn’t slide off
my hands or off my head and down the shower drain like some runny conditioners
tend to do. I applied it everywhere, massaging it into my scalp and combing it
through my hair from root to tip and I left it on for about three minutes.
After I rinsed my hair felt silky smooth and very manageable and I could comb
my fingers through my wet hair with ease. I wrapped my wet hair up in my new
favorite microfiber hair wrap by BlowPro, (which of course I bought at Costco,
see below for details), and I let the super-absorbent towel soak up most of the
moisture before I brushed out my hair and proceeded to blow it dry with my T3
featherweight hair dryer (which I also bought at Costco, see below for
details). I wasn’t kidding when I said I buy almost everything at Costco…
Anyway, I dried my hair
using my favorite Marilyn round brush, (sorry not a Costco purchase but you can
get one here),
just to curl my ends under a little as I dried in lieu of using any other hot
tools like a flat iron or curling iron. When I was finished I really thought I
had just come home from the salon! My hair was shiny and smooth, and it felt
super soft and it was light and bouncy and well, that’s when I started running
my hands through it nonstop. I think I have definitely found my new favorite
shampoo & conditioner.
You’re probably saying to
yourself ‘what about the scent,’ ‘you haven’t described how it smells!?’ And
you’re right, I haven’t addressed that yet, but only because the fragrance
didn’t “wow” me. It doesn’t have a bad smell, quite the contrary it smells very
pleasant, but it just wasn’t one of my favorites. It didn’t make me swoon the
way the scent of Biolage or Moroccanoil do. The Meta Silk Shampoo and Meta
Velour Conditioner both smell the same to me, they have a nice clean scent that
reminds me of high-end salons and the fragrance isn’t floral or fruity which I
think makes them perfect for both men and women. The fragrance is also very
subtle and doesn’t linger so it won’t fight with your favorite perfume or
cologne. I hope you don’t take that as a negative, if anything I see that more
as a neutral point. In fact, the only negative I could come up with is that I
wish Costco carried the Serge Normant Meta Silk Shampoo & Meta Velour
Conditioner in large bottles with pumps!

less than the retail price! If you’re looking for a fantastic, salon quality
shampoo & conditioner but you’re not trying to break the bank then look no
further than Costco to get Serge Normant Meta Silk Shampoo & Meta Velour
Conditioner!

$24 making the Costco price cost again 37% LESS than retail! I didn’t purchase
this item but if my hair needed assistance in the volume department I would
definitely check it out.
You can purchase the
BlowPro Hair Wrap & Shower Cap set (item #849504) at Costco.com
or in your local Costco warehouse for only $9.99 (plus $2.99 shipping &
handling if purchased online). I can personally attest to the super-absorbency
of the microfiber hair wrap, if it can tackle my super thick, long hair then it
can handle anyone’s hair. It’s also much lighter than any towel I have ever
twisted my hair up in and the elastic loop keeps the tail of the wrap tucked in
tight for a secure fit. The shower cap is roomy enough for even the biggest
do’s and the inside is lined with soft terry cloth so you wont find
condensation building up on the inside of the cap or a sweaty hair line after a
long, hot shower.
I purchased the T3 featherweight
professional hair dryer (item #778242) at the Washington,
DC Costco for $84.99. (Unfortunately this item is not available on
Costco.com.) Different
models of T3 hair dryers retail anywhere from $99 to $250 so the Costco
selling price is a great deal. The T3 featherweight (model #73808) from Costco
has 2 heat/speed modes, a cold shot button, a 9ft (3m) cord and this model is
an InStyle magazine best beauty buy and won an Allure magazine editors choice
award. According to the packaging T3 hair dryers use tourmaline infusion
technology and tourmaline ceramic components and evenly distribute negative
ionic far infrared heat. At only 13oz it’s noticeably lighter than my old hair
dryer and quieter than any hair dryer I have ever owned, even when it’s set on
high. Unless you look forward to that shoulder workout every time you blow-dry
your hair I highly recommend the lighter and quieter T3 featherweight.
Last but not least, if you
don’t want to lug around the full size bottles of Serge Normant Meta Silk
Shampoo & Meta Velour Conditioner while jet setting, you’re in luck because

carries the Serge Normant travel kit that includes mini 2oz bottles of the Meta
